Free Linux Laptops for Artists

Robin Rowe

A request from Robin Rowe...

Give us your old surplus Windows Me or Windows 2000 laptop so we can install the latest Linux software and give it to an artist who desperately needs it.

Many struggling Hollywood artists need a basic laptop to go online to check email and access casting notices or job boards. It's difficult to get by using a free computer at the library. If you have an obsolete surplus Windows laptop please give it to ScreenPlayLab so we can install the latest Linux software on it and give it to an actor, writer or musician who desperately needs it. Don't have an old laptop, yet want to help artists? ScreenPlayLab accepts donations in increments of $25 to buy new Wi-Fi PCM cards to install in old laptops. Contact me at Robin@ScreenPlayLab.com.

Happy Holidays from ScreenPlayLab!

Robin Rowe

ScreenplayLab Second Annual Pitch Contest

"The Inside Pitch" hosted by ICM Executive Story Editor Christopher Lockhart.

Christopher Lockhart

Chris is back! Our most popular event last year. Check out the prizes this year!

Whether you're coming with a determined intention to win or out of curiosity ready to be educated and entertained, this is a must-see event and could be the turning point in your career.

ICM Executive Story Editor Christopher Lockhart is generally considered the best pitch coach in the world. The Inside Pitch with Christopher Lockhart touches people's lives. By raising the stakes to include invitations from Hollywood agents for each of our three winners to meet to discuss how to move their careers forward, this particular Inside Pitch session can touch more lives in a bigger way than ever.

Some pitches are great, some are unintentionally hilarious. Either way, hear positive coaching from an expert on what worked and how to improve the pitch. Volunteer to pitch or just watch.

Prizes

Getting an agent is the best ticket to success in Hollywood. Finalists in the contest are invited by agents to meet with them at their offices.

  • Each finalist will get a meeting with at least one agent. Agents choose which of the three finalists each agent will see. Agents from multiple talent agencies are participating.
  • The winner also receives a copy of Final Draft.
  • Christopher will offer the winner industry coverage on the project
  • Each finalist will also get a DVD of the Emmy-nominated documentary The Inside Pitch.

Rules

If you want to pitch you will get opportunities to volunteer during the event. During the event Lockhart picks who from the audience pitches. It helps if you stand out in some way. He may pick at random from everyone who has their hands up, or he may ask to hear pitches for a particular genre next, or even beg for anyone who is sure he can pitch better than the last person did!

Lockhart decides the winners with the help of audience applause. His decisions are final.

Tips

Having a story with mass market appeal and being confident and to the point help, but nobody knows who will get picked to pitch. Try to stand out from the crowd in a positive way. Bring your cheering section. Who the audience wants to hear influences Chris too.
