ScreenplayLab Audience Release

By signing below, I state I'm under no obligation to volunteer my ideas at ScreenplayLab and do so at my own risk. ScreenplayLab is a public forum without confidentiality. I've taken whatever measures I feel necessary to protect myself, such as registering my script with the WGA or with the Library of Congress.

I understand that story ideas and story titles are not protected under copyright, that scripts are. People often have similar ideas with different executions. For example, LOST and GILLIGAN'S ISLAND are the same idea with different executions. I understand that because many artists are trying to anticipate what Hollywood wants next, creative executives often hear similar ideas from different artists who are unaware of each other.

I understand I will not get compensation for any ideas I volunteer at ScreenplayLab. I'm not going to accuse anyone of "stealing my ideas". I'm aware that Hollywood is not, in general, looking for an original idea. Most movies produced are based upon a book, article, true life story, or are a remake or sequel. I understand it's not possible to own the rights to an adaptation or sequel unless I have the rights to the original work.

I will not impose by trying to pitch to executives at ScreenplayLab or handing them a script. If I want to pitch them I'll ask them if I can call or meet with them later. If I want to give them a script I'll ask if my agent can send it to them. I understand that if I do not have an agent I may not have met the minimum requirement for pitching material to a studio executive.
