ScreenPlayLab Presents on May 28th to 30th at Rock'n Comic Con 2010

FOR ALL YOU ROCK-N-ROLL AND COMIC BOOK FANATICS, don't miss the ROCK'N COMIC CON coming up Memorial Day Weekend. It's comic books and rock bands. See Spider-Man creator Stan Lee, comic book alley with hundreds of comic book artists, studio animators, panels and celebrity after hours parties to 2am. Rock concert performances by A Flock of Seagulls, When In Rome, Dramarama, The Motels, and more.

That's Rock'n Comic Con, taking over the entire Pasadena Convention Center on May 28th, 29th and 30th with room for 30,000 fans. A day pass for $20 ($25 onsite) includes exhibits hall and panels. Pasadena Convention Center, 300 E. Green, Pasadena [Google Map]. Self-parking $9. Valet parking higher.

VirtualSphere, It's like a cross between a Star Trek holodeck and a human-sized hamster wheel. Demo on the exhibits floor all three days. Check it out!

Free Panels Included with Day Pass

Friday 2pm-7pm, Saturday 10-5pm, Sunday 10-4pm. Ballroom 1 has 1,000 seats. Ballrooms A, B, and C are each 250 seats. Format of the panels is 5-minute introductions, Q&A from the audience, ending with wrap-up with of parting thoughts from each panelist.

Comics to Film: Hollywood Takeover

Even though Superman: The Movie and the first Batman film were blockbusters, comic books and graphic novels during that era were still considered a fad. But since the release of X-Men, they've become the dominant source material for studio tentpole films. A discussion about the phenomenon of the comic book film, the influence of the comic book on filmmakers, the diversity of genres in the medium, and their importance in the global market and the new world of transmedia storytelling.

Producers and cast members of the hit web series The Resolve discuss how to get your web series off the ground. The Resolve centers around Mike Patterson (Russ Cootey), a beleaguered man, gripped by O.C.D. issues with humanity, unleashed by fiery clashes on others. He explains to his therapist Sean Miller (Alex Ballar - War Wolves) how he has found a way to deal with his compulsion, which is to kill those who he believes are responsible for the misalignment in humanity. Dig Comics Screening

Twenty-minute screening followed by panel discussion with director Miguel Cima and animator Scott Shaw

This 20-minute short won Best Doc at the San Diego Comic-Con Film Festival last year. The actor Edward James Olmos and his production company are helping make it into a feature-length version. Positive reviews and the LA Times. Both a love letter to the American art form of comics and a call to arms to increase the dwindling audience, Dig Comics is an entertaining, funny and inspirational film that aims to re-introduce the great original American art form. The documentary is hosted by writer/director Miguel Cima, who talks with comic book pros, as well as conducting unique man-on-the-street experiments to find out what happening with America's affection for comics.
