Celebrated Authors, Food, and Festivities at the City of West Hollywood's Sixth Annual Book Fair on Sunday, September 30, 2007

WEST HOLLYWOOD July 16, 2007 - The City of West Hollywood and LA Weekly present the multiple, award-winning West Hollywood Book Fair that will take place on Sunday, September 30, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at West Hollywood Park, 647 North San Vicente Boulevard in West Hollywood. The West Hollywood Book Fair will feature 12 stages with author panels and special guests, live performances and writing workshops. The West Hollywood Book Fair is one of Southern California's most eclectic literary events attracting readers and writers of all ages and interests.

This year's Book Fair will feature 2007 book award winners including: Jonathan Gold, Pulitizer Prize; Naomi Hirahara, Edgar Award; and Newbury Medal Winners Susan Patron and Cynthia Kadohata. Acclaimed mystery and suspense authors will include: Christopher Rice; Gregg Hurwitz; and Susan Diamond. Respected fiction authors to include: Mark Salzman; Lisa Fugard; Gina Nahai; Lisa Teasley; Mark Frost; Noel Alumit and Diana Wagman. Young Adult authors include Cecil Castellucci; Amy Goldman Koss; and Mark L. Williams. Legendary LGBT authors and performers Felice Picano, Terry Wolverton and Michael Kearns will also attend. Film, television and music personalities will include: Bruce Dern, Mariel Hemingway, Victoria Rowell, "The Young and the Restless;" Dinah Lenney, ER; Chuck Panozzo, STYX; and Dito Montiel, "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints." Other authors that will participate include funny women Paula Poundstone; Beth Lapidus, founder of the "Uncaberet" and Meghan Daum. Joining us from the worlds of politics and current events are John Dean, Susan Estrich, Gustavo Arellano and Reza Aslan.

The West Hollywood Book Fair will also feature a poetry salon, performances, storytelling, book signings, celebrity readings, writing workshops and many activities for families with children. Diverse programming for all ages and interests including teens; Seniors; members of the LGBT community; a Kid's Stage; Russian speaking authors and poetry; Whole Foods Cooking Stage featuring famous chefs; three different poetry, readings and performance stages; a Mystery Pavilion; political panels and a variety of other attractions. For aspiring and new writers, the West Hollywood Book Fair offers an array of workshops that include tips from industry professionals on subjects such as preparing for publishing, independent publishing and writing the first novel. New panels this year will address a very eclectic range of topics including: immigration, erotica, New Orleans, blogging, peaceful living and avant guard literature. Another great program offered at the Book Fair is "West Hollywood Writes." This program gives local West Hollywood writers an opportunity to sell or sign their books, plays, collected works of poetry and more.

More than 100 exhibitors participate in the West Hollywood Book Fair including numerous independent book sellers in all subjects and hosting interactive activities. Last year's event included activities from the "Reading Preserve" hosted by Smart Gals Production, bookmarker making and other book craft activities for children, ranging to a pet psychic hosted by Bodhi Tree Bookstore.
